About UKRankings
UKRankings is an independent reviewer of UK essay, dissertation and coursework writing services. We exist because UK students choosing a writing service face a market that is opaque, full of misleading marketing claims, and where the cost of choosing wrong is a missed deadline, a plagiarism flag, or a failed module. Our work is to test these services as a real student would and report what happens.
Why we started
The UK academic writing services market in 2026 has hundreds of competing providers, most of which look identical from the outside. Pricing pages obscure final costs. Refund policies look generous on paper and disappoint in practice. Plagiarism claims are easy to make and harder to verify. Trustpilot ratings are gameable and frequently gamed. Students rely on whatever review they find first, with no clear way to tell whose review they should trust. UKRankings was founded to publish a single, independent, methodology-led ranking that a UK student could rely on.
What we do
For every provider we cover, we have ordered work, paid for it, and applied a published testing methodology. We score on seven dimensions: pricing transparency, quality of writing, originality (Turnitin and AI detection), deadline reliability, customer support, refund policy in practice, and confidentiality. The full rubric is open and identical across providers.
We publish the verdict, the dated evidence behind each score, and where we got something wrong, a correction. Reviews older than 18 months are flagged as "refresh pending" and re-tested before the score is treated as current.
How we are funded
UKRankings is funded through a mixture of: (1) affiliate commissions from a subset of the providers we review, disclosed on each review page where applicable; (2) direct sponsorship of methodology refreshes by Projectsdeal.co.uk, which is part of the same group as UKRankings, EasyMarks.co.uk and TopUKWriters.co.uk.
We disclose this because it matters. A reasonable reader should know that a "ukrankings" recommending "projectsdeal" is not coming from a fully independent source, and should weight that recommendation accordingly. Our editorial process attempts to keep scoring objective by separating the testing team from the commercial team. Every review where Projectsdeal, EasyMarks or TopUKWriters appears in a top-3 position is signed off by an editorial lead who is not also commercially aligned with that provider in the relevant period.
Editorial team
The current editorial team and reviewer bios are being expanded. Each individual review is signed by the lead reviewer who placed the order and marked the work, with the date the test was conducted. Until full reviewer bios are published, you can reach the editorial lead at editorial@ukrankings.co.uk. We are actively recruiting additional UK subject specialists for the 2026 testing cycle.
Editorial principles
Independence. Editorial scoring decisions are taken by the testing reviewer using the rubric, signed off by the editorial lead. No one outside the editorial team has authority to change a score — including the commercial team and the parent group.
Disclosure over concealment. We disclose the affiliate relationship and the parent-group ownership on every page. Hiding it would not fool any reader for long and would damage trust. Disclosing it lets you weight our recommendations as you see fit.
Corrections in public. When we get a review wrong, we publish a correction with the date, what we got wrong and what changed. We do not silently rewrite published reviews.
How to reach us
For all editorial matters — corrections, challenges to a review, requests for a re-test, story ideas, freedom-of-information style requests — email editorial@ukrankings.co.uk. For affiliate or commercial enquiries, write to partners@ukrankings.co.uk — those go to a different inbox managed by the commercial team.
Our commitment
We will get reviews wrong. When we do, we publish a correction with a date, what we got wrong, and what changed. The change log on every individual review and on How We Test is public and never silently rewritten. If a provider on our site improves its service significantly, we will reflect that in the next review cycle. If a provider's service deteriorates, the same applies. The intent is that the score on any given review is, on the date it was last verified, our best honest assessment.
